KABAYAN Party List #30 in the ballot

KABAYAN Party List (Kabalikat ng Mamamayan) is a COMELEC-accredited party-list that represents marginalized sectors of the Filipino community, including the disabled, senior citizens, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), fishermen, farmers, the poor, etc. It is vying for seats in Congress in the Philippine general elections, 2016 elections.

KABAYAN'S first nominee is lawyer Harry Roque, a human rights advocate in the Philippines. He is a professor of law at the University of the Philippines, teaching constitutional law and public international law in the past 15 years.

Advocacies

KABAYAN's advocacies are summarized in the acronym "KABAYAN +2."
"KA" stands for KAlusugan, or health. KABAYAN aims to provide health care to underprivileged Filipinos, to be subsidized partially or even fully by the government.
"BA" is for paBAhay, or housing. KABAYAN intends to provide at least one million low-cost houses for poor Filipino families.

"YAN" pertains to kabuhaYAN, or livelihood. KABAYAN seeks to provide Filipino families with employment through livelihood programs, micro-financing for small to medium enterprises and similar projects.

Finally, "+2" refers to education and OFWs. KABAYAN will strive to assure that at least one member of each Filipino family will receive sufficient education to be able to provide their respective families with ample financial support. The party-list will also bring OFW concerns to the forefront, and spearhead projects such as a "one-stop shop" for the processing of travel-related documents; insurance coverage for Filipino seafarers whether or not they are aboard their respective vessels; and the creation of seafarers' dormitories near seaports. KABAYAN also aims to encourage OFWs to come back to the Philippines and to emphasize that working abroad should be an option, not a necessity.

Membership Benefits

Registration to KABAYAN is open for everyone on their website. http://www.kabayanparty.com  Should KABAYAN win seats in Congress, party members will enjoy benefits such as a health insurance card, an educational scholarship and livelihood assistance among others.
